The sales copy

Written by Graham van den Heever

The answer to writing great sales copy is simply to write convincing words specifically for your predefined easy target market. You must be aware of their needs and write your copy with passion, excitement and benefits. Tell them exactly what's in it for them by highlighting your product's benefits. BENEFITS SELL NOT FEATURES!!!

When you begin writing your copy, your text should be written in a black, understandable font with a light background. Use blocks of text with a spaces or lines between them. If you try to make a potential client read a whole page of solid text he or she will move on! --so make sure you use plenty of white space.

New benefits are what people go for so use the "so what" approach. After each sentence, say to yourself, "so what" and then elaborate.

Example:

ABC screens are the best on the market (so what) They are great at reducing glare. (so what) This means that your eyes do not get as tired while working at your computer. (so what) You will be able to get more done with out having to take as many breaks (so what) Your production will increase dramatically.

Remember...benefits sell not features.

It is a great idea to read over the 5 basic human needs when writing your sales copy, structure things in such a way as to appeal to your readers needs. Doing this will instantly build trust and create a safe environment for your new clients.

5 basic human needs

1 Physiological need: Man needs foods, shelter, sex, heat, water, air, and cloth. These basic elements are commonly known to be essential for being alive. There will be no progress in other areas of life if these needs have not yet to be fulfilled.

2 Safety need: Human being wants security in life. He wants to be safe from all dangers and want to make sure that he can carry on our life without any uncertainty.

3 Love and relationship need: Man wants to be loved and wants to be related to others. We can not live alone and need to be recognized by our love ones. The need for love is so strong that it is the major mold of character in the childhood and it is the major ingredient that shape human life in psychological theory.

4 Self esteem need: This level of needs is understood to be for inner fulfillment. Man wants to know that he is important. Besides he wants to feel that sense of importance through himself. This is why it is called "Self esteem".

5 Self actualization need: The highest level of needs requires human being to understand himself and see the value in his self. He tries to find himself through religion and his spiritual guidance. This is the area that is most meaningful in human being's life.

The killer sales copy

Headline

This is the most significant and important part of your sales copy, This Headline has to motivate readers to dig in and continue reading the rest of the sales copy. If you do not achieve this, the rest of your sales copy will be totally worthless.

Introduction

Similar to your headline the first paragraph is just as important and is a vital key to achieving a powerful sales copy. Studies have shown that if your headline attracts your potential customers' interest, and you can maintain their attention through the first paragraph, chances are they'll read the rest of your copy.

The first paragraph should plainly define the benefits that will be outlined While reading the rest of your sales copy -- identify a problem and promote your product or service as the solution.

Subheadings

Subheadings are just smaller headlines that should be used to break up your text blocks. They also provide your readers with important highlights of your paragraphs.

Don’t be shy use lots of subheadings throughout your copy, as not all of your visitors will read your copy word for word. They'll simply scan it and only read what catches their attention. Most of our visitors will probably fall into this category.

Build Trust

You must give your potential customers with a good, no risk, money back guarantee. In addition, where possible provide a limited time free trial or download that will completely remove their risk. This will build your potential customers' confidence in you and put their mind at ease.

You need to give more than any of your competitors, be better than them and make it safe.

Call to Action

Once your potential customer has read your sales copy, you must direct them to your order page or contact us link.

Use a P.S.

People just love the P.S. this is a great place to pack with your sweetest benefits. Chances are pretty good that this will be taken in.

Testimonials

Testimonials provide a great way to restore confidence in your visitors. mix together your testimonials with your sales letter. Never make your visitors click to another page to view your testimonials -- chances are, they won't. By blending your testimonials in with your sales message, you can ensure they will be read.

How many times have you followed up on a lead and not closed the deal or signed any business? How many times have you put that name and number or business card in your top drawer with the notion that you would call again in a few weeks time? Did you call back? How did it go? Still no new business.

With e-mail marketing, you are able to add that name to a mailing list and send personalized e-mails informing them of interesting news and industry trends or perhaps your specials and promotions. Not only that, you're able to keep in touch with them on a personal but very informal basis. This means that lead doesn't fall through the cracks and get lost. In fact with e-mail marketing your leads go from being cold calls s to hot hot prospects.

This is a very powerful and effective way to protect your client base and prospecting list from the risk of some young sales rookie making a call to client, promising them the world and stealing the business right from under your nose. Each e-mail you send should build trust, establish you as a market leader and reminds appliance/prospects about the relationship they have with you.

With e-mail marketing you drastically reduce any chances of losing a client or prospect.
